HOW THE HITHERTO MORIBUND LAGURU WELFARE ASSOCIATION, LAGOS METAMORPHOSED INTO A THRIVING ASSOCIATION


 Once upon a time, Laguru Welfare Association,  Lagos used to be an object of ridicule during  Alaocha Ubakala Development Union and Ubakala improvement Union's meetings due to the poor attendance of her members and failure to fulfill their financial obligations 

 Only Mr Godwin Onyeonoro aka Buchi was regular in attendance, Mr Adolphus Iroabuchi, the President of Umuahia Youth in Lagos and Mr  Bassi,  Provost, Alaocha Ubakala Development Union would only  be there at one point or the other. others were not coming. And when they were called to fulfill their financial obligations. it was silence that usually greeted this.

At a point, Mr Godwin Onyeonoro, said "This disgrace is enough''. He started fresh membership drive for the Association. He volunteered his place at Canal Estate Okota, as their new meeting venue and used his money to host the Association. Soon his efforts started yielding fruits, as members began to turn up.

During the wake keep of late  Elder Philip Nwaeze, the community supprised everyone at the Power Penticostal Church hall, the venue of the event. 

Mr Amadi job, the compere of the occasion had called them and was expecting the usual response, but was surprised when Adolphus  Iroabuchi, against the usual expectation came up to the high table with the sum of twenty five thousand naira. He later  added another five thousand to make it thirty thousand naira. Laguru's attendance to the wake keep was impressive.

Mr Godwin Onyeonoro, who is the Chairman  of the Caretaker committee overseeing the affairs of the Association, has brought life and vibrancy to the hitherto kwashiokor stricken  Association. He has distinguished himself very well in effectively  piloting the affairs of the Association that every body is proud to be associated with it. The Association has been growing from strenght to strength. More members  have continued to turn up and scrambling for positions of leadership in the forth coming election.They have been fulfilling their financial  obligations to the parent Unions. In June,2021, they successfully hosted Alaocha Ubakala Developement Union, something they could not do months back. The Association is very attractive now with a lot that draw attention and deep seated participation.

AN IROKO HAS FALLEN IN NSIRIMO UBAKALA .

The news of the death of Sir Micheal Uzoma Irom KSM, the Ezeji and  Agu N'Eche Mba1 of Nsirimo, came to many people that knew him as a big shock. Sir Mike irom died on  Saturday, December,28, 2024  in U. S .A, He had gone there on vacation with his wife. It was during this period that he became sick and died.
