HRH EZE UCHEAGA SUSPENDS VILLAGE HEAD FOR INSUBORDINATION.
The Traditional Ruler of Laguru Autonomous Community, HRH Eze (Dr) C.A Ucheaga has slammed an indefinite suspension on Chief Paul 'Poshed' Ukomadu, the Village Head of Orie Village over alleged gross insubordination, flagrant disrespect and disobedience to the stool and authority of Enyi of Laguru.
The suspension was contained in a letter written and signed by the royal father, Eze (Dr.) Cyril Ucheaga and addressed to the embattled Village Head.
Dr Ucheaga said that Chief Ukomadu was suspended following his refusal to appear before the hearing of a case brought against him by Mr. Chinedu Esiwoko, the interim Chairman of Orie Village Union.
Mr. Chinedu, had accussed him of sacking the Interim Executive of Orie Village Union and ordering the conduct of the election that ushered in Lawrence Chigbu led executive, when Ndi Umuorihe were still mourning the death of Chief Nwaoha Onyemachi, the Uda I of Umuda
HRH, who was not happy with his failure to show up at the schedulled hearing date, stated that it was Chief Ukomadu that proposed the date for the hearing of the case, which he later boycotted along with members of Lawrence Chigbu led Executive of the Union.
HRH further stated the case was reschedulled for hearing for four times and Chief Ukomadu did not see any wisdom in making apperance in any of these occasions.
His action was viewed as recalcitrant insubordination, flagrant disrespect and disobedience to the authority of Enyi of Laguru
He noted that Chief Ukomadu's action must have hardened the 'skin' of members of Lawrence Chigbu led Executive, who in turn boycotted, the hearing. He was subsequently suspended as village head.
HRH disclosed that the alleged 'Kangaro' election which Chief Ukomadu ordered to be conducted was equally annulled and Mr. Chinedu Esiwoko asked to continue as interim Chairman of the Union pending when election would be held in December.
HRH said the decision to suspend Chief Ukomadu hard as it is, is designed to serve as deterrent to others.
Meanwhile, members of Lawrence Chigbu led Executive, whose election was annulled has condemed the decision and called for its reversal and lifting of the suspension order on Chief Paul 'Poshed' Ukomadu, the Village Head of Orie Village.
In a letter they wrote through their lawyer, they said due process was followed in the conduct of the said election and that it was held when HRH had not been given recognision by the state governmemt.
On the the allegation that the election was held when the corpse of late Chief Nwaoha Onyemachi was still in motuary, they said they did not commit any breach of law as many ceremonies took place in Umuorihe during the period without anybody quering the celebrants
