HOW ELDER CHARLES AND HIS SIBBLINGS BADE THEIR FATHER FINAL GOODBYE



 The remains of High Chief Moses Ndukanjo Ekwueme,  the late village head of Umuokwuru village, were on 6th January, 2025, committed to mother earth at his compound, Umuokwuru, Umuosu Ubakala, amidst eulogies and tributes


Late Moses Ekwueme bade the world  goodbye at the age of 91 years on 18th October, 2024, 




His death was a glorious exit and  a celebration of life that was not just well spent but adjudged successful in every sense of it. Thus Ndi Umuokwuru and his children gave him a befitting burial. 




It started on Sunday,  5th January, 2025 at his  compound, Umuokwuru, where a wake keep was held for him. The.highpoint of the wake-keep was the participation of  the Okonko society. They turned up in their large number to pay their last respect to the deceased, being their grand patron and must consequently be honoured, hence all necessary rituals and ceremonies were performed accordingly for him.



The life journey of the late village head of Umuokwuru came to a final end when his remains were laid to rest on 6th January,  2025. Earlier, there was a lying-in-state at his residence, which was followed by the funeral service conducted by the  Stream of Joy, old Umuahia branch


After his  intetment, a carnival like atmosphere  unfolded at the reception., where guests were pampared





His children, Elder Charles Ekwueme, Chief Chimaobi Ekwueme, Chief Ahanna Ekwueme and others were at their best. They were everywhere to ensure that their guests were well taken care of


To make the occasion grand, a life band 'Owowo and the Good Tidings' was on ground to treat guests to good music.Also on ground to entertain guests were the okonko group and Odinmara cultural band. The offical M. C of the occasion was M. C Monica.




The event had in attendance politicians, traditional rulers, traditional prime ministers, village heads, titled chiefs and associates of the children of the late Sage. Among those sighted at the burial included  HRH Eze Dr S.I Ibezim, the Evule Ukwu 11 of Umuosu Ubakala Autonomous Community,  HRH Eze Profesor C .A Ucheaga, the Enyi 11 of Laguru Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Barr. M.O Ukandu, the Ibom Ukwu I of Amibo Autonomous Community, Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano/ Umuahia Federal Constituency,  Mr. Kingsley Ndidi Anosike,  Commisioner for Budget  and planning, Abia State, Cmdr Macdonald Ubah, (Rtd) Special Adviser  to the Governor of Abia State on Security Matters, Chief Amadi Abraham PDP Chairman, Abia State, Chukwudi Ezebiro, Admistrative Secretary PDP Abia State, Chief Emeka Iyama, Ohamadike 1, Chief Chinedum Enwereuzo, Mayor, Umuahia South LGA and his team i.e Chief of staff, Secretary  and Director of Protocol,  Chief Tony Ochiabuto Ezeigbo, village head, Umuamadi village, Chief Donatus Solomon, village head, Umuta vollage, Chief Uwaoma  Ndukuba, Dike Ohamadike 1 of Umuosu Autonomous community, Agu ka Agu International, Queens Club etc


It was an eventful day as the Chief mourner, Elder Charles Ekwueme testified that he was  overwhelmed. He said he would forever remain  grateful to people who out of love honoured him and his sibblings  during the burial ceremony of their beloved father. He appreciated all that came and wished them journey mercies back to their destinations
