UIU (F) ELECTION: WHO SUCCEEDS ELDER FRIDAY OGBUEHI ?

The tenure of Chief (Elder) Friday Ogbuehi led Ubakala improvement Union ( F) comes to an end this year.  Election of new leaders that will steer the affairs of the union for another term will hold in August 2025 and the newly elected exco will be sworned in December

Going by the union's rotational arrangements, the new PG will come from Alaocha zone, Elder Friday Ogbuehi, the out going PG having come from Mbaiyi zone

However Nsirimo zone may want to challenge the arrangement. It was their turn to produce the  PG after the tenure of Chief Chidiebere Okorie in 2012, but they were disqualified from the race on the ground that their Diaspora Conferences had pulled out from the union for obvious reasons. Now that they are back fully, they may want Alaocha zone to conced the position to them in the interest of justice and fair play.

This may not be possible, consodering the  fact that they were not part of Sir Ebere Nweze's administration and for the greater part of this present administration. For them to qualify to contest this position they will have to wait for their turn.i.e they que behind Mbayi after Alaocha has completed it turn.

Yes it is the turn of Alaocha but which of the conferences in Diaspora will get the nod of the power brokers to produce the candidate

In 2012, after spear heading  the disquification of Nsirimo, Abuja conference  in conjunction with the power brokers installed one of their own, Sir Ebere Nweze as the PG. This time around, other conferences will not want Abuja to outshine them as they did 13 years ago.  Lagos has started shopping  for a candidate. Mr Peter Ugbor, President of Alaocha Development Union, Lagos while addressing his members on the election said that  any one that comes  Lagos will get the full backing  of  Lagos conference. It is believed other conferences including Abuja are doing the same

Two officers, who are from home conference  and who by the  offices they are holding in the present administration can not vie for any office other  than that of the PG. They are the Secretary General, Sir (Chief) Uwaoma  Ndukuba and the Vice President General. Chaplain Charles Ngwakwe. Aside that of president general other offices zoned to Alaocha are lower than what they are holding

These two men if the constitution allowed them to contest for the position of PG, they will give any candidate from the  conferences in Diaspora the run for their money.
Sir Uwaoma is an intelligent and hard-working officer, very experienced in the union matters and equally experienced in the union power politics. He  played an active role in the Sir Ebere's administration  as an assistant secretary general and when Sir Ebere's administration was sacked, he was privileged to be elected to a higher office in this present administration.

Although the cabal that installed Sir Ebere Nwaeze and Elder Friday Ogbuehi are no more in power, this election will determine if they are still a force to reckon with or not

Our takes however, is that Elder Friday Ogbuehi has performed creditably well,  the power brokers (whether old or emerging) should  allow him to play a major role in deciding who succeeds him  for continuity sake.
