PENCOM OUT WITH DETAILED PROCESSES ON THE ONLINE VERIFICATION AND ENROLMENT EXERCISE

 


The Nigerian Pension Commision has come out with detailed processes on the online verification and enrollment, including an elaborations of the role of the prospective retirees, MDAs and PFAs respectively.

The commision made this known in a release titled Pencom Automates the Pre -retirement Verification Enrolment Exercise part 2, posted on their Facebook page.

According to the release, the online Verification and Enrolment Exercise requires prospective retirees to under go three (3) stages i.e Registration, Verification and Enrolment. 

Commenting on the  Registration, the commision said in other to ease the process for prospective retirees, two registration options have been provided_ the self service option and the PFA assisted registration.

Under the self service option, prospective retirees shall use a mobile phone or other devices, to log on to the PENCOM website www pencom gov.ng and at the "home page" they are to click on the Enrolment Application to register and scan the necessary documents required for the verification and enrolment exercise, in addition, there is also PFA documents on the registration portal.

On verification,the commision said the essence of verification is to ensure that the Prospective retirees upload all the required documents,Therefore , the PFAs would sight the originals or Certified Truth Copies CTC of documents uploaded by the prospective retirees and also collect the original of Record of service and the MDAs' introduction letter.

Enrolment. After a successful Verification,the PFA shall proceed to take a picture of the prospective retirees for Enrolment on the Application. There after, it shall print two copies of the Registration Slips (Enrolment Slip) for the prospective retirees to sign and be counter signed by the Enrolment officer. the signed copy is to be scanned and uploaded on to the Enrolment Application, while a copy should be given to the prospective retirees.

Highlighting the role of MDAs and PFAs, the MDAs have a significant role in ensuring that retirees are adequately guided on  the required documents needed for the online enrolment and verification with the PFAs

In addition, they are also expected to upload a list of prospective retirees, issuance of introduction letters, among others .

The PFA shall be responsible for verification and enrolment of the prospective retirees, assisting those who are not able to use the self  service option to register on the Enrolment Application and forwarding the required reports to PENCOM, In addition they are also required to provide the necessary ICT infrastrture or a seamless conduct of the exercise  as prescribed by PENCOM

Concluding, the automation of the Enrolment Exercise for prospective retirees of Treasury funded MDAs will greatly facilitate it smooth conduct, while enabling PENCOM to seamlessly carry out the computations of accrued pension rights 

With the relative ease of the process, prospective retirees should be able to enrol within the stipulated time line when advised by PENCOM
