MEET BARRISTER OBINNA BENNETH RANDIE UKANWOKO UBAKALA DAY AWARD WINNER



Barrister Obinna Benneth Randie Ukanwoko was born in Amizi, Oloko in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State on June 30th 1960 to Chief Boniface and Ezinne Christina Ukanwoko of Nsirimo, Ubakala in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.


He attended Central School Nsirimo, Santa Crux College ( now Olokoro High School) He graduated from the Universities of Calabar and Lagos,  where he obtained a Bachelor Degree with honours in political  Science and Law respectively as well as a Master:s Degree in international Law and Diplomacy. 
He is an active member of numerous professional bodies including but not limited to Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Nigerian Institute of Personnel Management, Nigerian Bar Association,  Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, Texas Board of Insurance,  Nigerian Institute of Advance Legal Studies Etc.


Fillowing a distinguished working career in Nigerian Airport Authority ( now Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria) Aminu Kano international Airport Kano,  R.T Brisco Nig Ltd, Lagos, Harcourt Drilling Services Ltd Kano, Barrister Obinna launched into private business in the late 90s with the incorporation of Ronax Nig, a company engaged in the export of cashew nuts to Switzerland and importation of tailoring materials from South Korea.

Subsequently he incorporated two other companies; investment Guarantee Ltd, which carries out project development and financing, and Roots Resources Ltd,  hospitality services and owners of Roots Exclusive Hotels Ltd, Lagos. He is a Director in the following companies; Ash Global Resources Ltd, Momentum Health Ltd, Mable Stones Global Resources Ltd, He is also  Chairman of Lizduk Construction service and Abia Hotels Resources  Park,  Umuahia as well as the Principal Partner in the Law firm of Obinna Ukanwoko and partners


Barrister Obinna is a man of so many skills, who speaks Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and French Laguages fluently. He is a philantropist par excellence, who believes in assisting the less privileged in the society. In line with the above,  he founded Obinwane Support Initiative - a Non Governmental Organization engaged in youth empowerment through skill acquisition, free distribution of drugs to the aged and democracy education to secondary school students in Abia State.




He is also a consummate politician and a stakeholder in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Umuahia South  Local Government Area of Abia State and a leader in Nsirimo ward. In 2011,  he contested the primaries of the People's Democratic Party ( PDP) for a ticket to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia in the Federal House of Representatives and was subsequently appointed a member of Abia State  Hospital Management Board by His Excellency Governor T.A  Orji to represent Umuahia South and  North Local Governments Area on the Board.


In March, 2016, he was appointed the Transitional Committee Chairman of Umuahia South Local Government by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu. He meritoriously and distinctively discharged this role to the overt satisfaction of his people and was in October 2015 honoured by the Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award Committee, Abuja as one of the 16 out of 774 best performing Local Government Chairmen in Nigeria and 2nd in the 5 States of the South East.



And for his contributions to the socia -economic transformation that was brought to bear during his tenure as T.C Chairman, Umuahia South LGA, he was given recognision as Ubakalascope Administrator of the year 2016  by the Management of Ubscope News  on 14th January, 2017



He was one of the recipients of Merit Award during Ubakala Cultural Day held on 26 December 2021. He was given the award  by the Executive of Ubakala Improvement Union (F) in recognision of his outstanding leadership which has led to the growth, development  and advancementaof Ubakala clan


He is married and with four children.

  Rev. ( Mrs) Olayinka Olusola Danso,  retired General Manager, National Mail Distribution Center, Shomolu is 63 years today.
