REAL REASONS SIR EBERE NWEZE WAS SACKED BEFORE THE END OF HIS TENURE
It had been revealed that the face off between Sir Ebere Nweze, the then President General Ubakala improvement Union (F) and HRH Eze Rapheal Mbagwu, the Uba 111 of Ubakala and Enyi Abia over the Pharm. Chibuzor Ufomadu's chairmanship of 2018 Ubakala Day planning committee led to the removal of the former and his executive from office four months before the expiration of their tenure.
The revelation was made by sources close to the PDP salwarts that hatched the plot.
According to the source the whole saga began on August, 2018 when Pharm. Chibuzor Ufomadu, the President General of Amibo Progressive Union (f) was relieved of his position alongside his executive by HRH Eze Rapheal Mbagwu, who ordered for a new election that ushered in Barrister Chris Ezem as the new President General of Amibo Progressive Union (F) on 28th September, 2018
According to our source the sudden dissolution of Chibuzor Ufomadu's executive and the election of Chris Ezem to replace him was seen as politically motivatated. This action was taken on the backdrop that the former leader of Amibo Progressive Union belongs to APC. HRH Eze Rapheal Mbagwu, the Enyi Abia and some influential members of the community belong to the PDP, they would not allow an APC member to hold sway in the community during the forth coming general elections. Hence the sudden use of HRH Eze Mbagwu to dissolve the executive.
After removing Pharm Ufomadu from office, HRH Eze Mbagwu had approached Sir Ebere Nweze and asked him to equally remove Ufomadu from the position of Chairman 2018 Ubakala Day Planning Committee because Amibo was instrumental to his being appointed to the position.
This, Sir Ebere tactically turned down, stating that the request was late as it would distrupt the plan already put in place for the Day.
In reaction to this, Eze Mbagwu was reported to have requested for the outright cancellation of the whole event. This, Sir Ebere refused for the obvious fact that the previous edition of the Day which was cancelled at the last hour did not go down with the people.
Our source further said that the dissatisfied monarch went further to canverse among his fellow monarchs in Ubakala to speak in one voice for the cancellation of the celebration if Chibuzor Ufomadu could not be removed as insisted by him.
When he realized that his manuoverings could not achieve his purpose, he resorted to withdrawal of his community, Amibo from the celebration
Even the withdrawal of his community could not have meaniful impact on the already planned Ubakala Day as it was a huge success considering the turn out and the calibre of people that attended the event.
Since it was electionary period and not wanting to be out done by their political opponents, all the PDP stalwarts in Ubakala and the PDP candidate for the Umuahia South Constituency, Hon. Jerry Uzosike were all present, so were the APGA candidates like Comdr Macdonald Ubah and Hon.Chijioke Nwachukwu. It was like political showcasing among the gladiators.
However, after the celebration, the PDP stalwarts, who were not happy with the way and manner the Enyi Abia, HRH Eze Mbagwu was treated and the alleged special treatment given to the APGA candidates in the fort coming election, decided to remove Sir Ebere Nweze, before the end of his tenure for those that would work only in their intetest.
So during the Easter conference, they moved that election should hold during the August conference and the newly elected executive sworn in December 2019.
Sir Ebere Nweze and his executive, argued that their tenure would end on 26th December, 2019 and therefore election should hold also on 26th. December and not 23rd August.
The argument continued till 22nd August, 2019 during the executive meeting with each gruop holding firmly to it's position.
After the executive meeting which was held on the eve of the August conference and had in attendance many politicians who wanted election to hold during August conference and sensing that they were determined to carry out their plan, Sir Ebere Nweze quickly called off the conference at the last hour citing security reason.
The politicians capitalized on this, mobilized their members who filled the hall on the meeting day. A vote of no confidence was moved and passed against Sir Ebere Nweze and his executive. Election was consequently held which saw the emergence of Elder Friday Ogbuehi as the new President General.
