AN IROKO HAS FALLEN IN NSIRIMO UBAKALA .

The news of the death of Sir Micheal Uzoma Irom KSM, the Ezeji and  Agu N'Eche Mba1 of Nsirimo, came to many people that knew him as a big shock.

Sir Mike irom died on  Saturday, December,28, 2024  in U. S .A, He had gone there on vacation with his wife. It was during this period that he became sick and died. He was aged 72 years

He was a man of many parts, an erudite scholar, a celebrated teacher, a prolific  writer and publisher, a successful business man, an astitue politician, a paramount community leader and social critic

He was a graduate  of University of ife B.Sc Mathematic (1981) PGDE Calabar (1986)

In the course of his teaching career, which spanned over 20 years, he held various positions in the  institutions he worked. He was:

Student Affairs Officer  -- Institute of Commerce,  Northern zone.

Dean of Students  -- State Secondary Education Management Board, Imo State

Member.--   Joint  Consultative Committe on instructional  Materials

President   -- Science Teachers Association (STAN),  Umuahia zone

Executive Secretary --- Ikwuano/Umuahia Local Government Education Authority 

He was a patriot who gave his all for  the peace, unity and progress of Ubakala. He was  one of the driving forces behind the establishment of Ike Ubakala clan, a non partisan  association  of Ubakala people formed to unite  the feuding Ubakala communities and to fight the political
marginalisation of Ubakala clan and its people by all arms of government. The group saw to the emergence of Dr Ephraim Iroakazi aka 'Volume' as the first  executive Chairman Umuahia South Local Government in 1998. Though he belonged to another political party, but  in support of Ubakala Agenda in 2015, he supported Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu of APGA  and ensured that he emerged victorious in Nsirimo  ward during the House of Assembly re run election.

Well known in the political scene as a good Tactician,  Strategist and a competent mobilizer of people. His services  were highly sought by those seeking for elective positions in Abia State. He was the:

Director General  Hon. Chidi Nwosu Campaign Organization, ( Umuahia South House of Assebly)

Director, Planning and Stratedy,  Senator Nkechi Nwaogu Campaign Organization (Abia Central Senatorial Electon)

Chairman, Planning and Strategy Committee Chief T A  Orji's Re-election Campaign Oganization. 

He  served as  Member, Umuahia South Local Government  Transition Committe, 

Chairman, Umuahia South Political Office Holders Forum, 

Coordinator,  Constitution Review Committe Umuahia South, 

Senior Liason Officer/ Constituency Manager to Senator Nkechi Nwaogu 

Executive Secretary,   Ikwuano/ Umuahia Local Education Authority etc

He was an active member of all the political parties he joined since 1994, whe he ventured into partisan politics. He served as 

Asst Director Reaserch  and Planning , NPN Umuahia zone

Secretary and later Publicity Secretary UNCP Abia State.

Member  ANPP Election Panel

Beyond politics, teaching and business, he was also a prolific writer and public speaker, He had written numerious books and made some paper presentations on different  occasions. Prominent among the papers he presented are:

The Mathematic interpretation of some Astrology Legends  - a paper presented to the National Convention of Mathematic Students Association of Nigeria,  University of Benim.

Solving Verbal Problem -- a  paper presented to  Imo State Conference of Mathematic/Science Teachers Association in Nigeria 

Government Propaganda Agencies -- a  blue print presented to the first civilian Governor of Abia State to uplift the image of his administration in Umuahia (vol 1-4 )

The new Nsirimo -- a paper presented to the conference of the NAIDA (F)

He was a devout Christian,  Roman Catholic faithful, a knight of St Mulumba and Promoter of the Elue Army  of our Lady of Fatima which he ran as a ministry. He believed  that only a disciplined mind can know and serve God and that the only way to show appreciation to God for all his kindness to mankind is to join in the envagelization of the word of God. For this reason, he choosed to write and publish religious books and gave them out free of charge as a way of spreading the word of God. 

He is survived by wife, Lady Angelina Ada Irom, children and grand children 

 Those he left behind  should be consoled that he lived a fulfilled life and had a positive impact on the people in his community and the nation at large. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him well 

We pray that the Almighty God will grant his entire family  the grace and the fortitude to bear  this irreplaceable loss.
