Mr Harrison Chukwurah, an operation staff of Nigerian Postal Service Delta Territory is dead. A native of illah, Late Chukwurah died on Tuesday 4th June, 2024 at 53 after a brief illness. He joined the service of Nigerian Postal Service as a postal officer 11 on GL 03, nine years ago.. May his soul rest in peace. 

The Lagos Mainland Territory of Nigerian Postal Service,  on 22nd April, 2024, organised a pen dowm ceremony for it's retired State Postal Manager, Mr Ajire Olajide Samuel, who served the organization meritoriously and retired on 17th April, 2025, having reached the compulsory retirement age of 60 years and after 32 years of service. At the well attended ceremony, Management Staff, including the Director (Ops) Mrs Toyin Egbesola, who respresented the Postmaster General, as well as friends and well wishers paid glowing tributes in torrents  to the man who can be aptly described as an embodiment of positive attributes, an epitome of hard work, an icon of  commitment to duty and symbol of passion for work.  They congratulated him, as well as appreciated his contibutions to the growth and advancement of NIPOST, adding that it is an accomplishment that should not be taken for granted.  The peak of the occasion was when he was called upon to cut the birthday cake. HRH Eze Nnaoma (Professor) C.A Ucheaga, the Enyi 11 of Laguru Autonomous Community and the Chairman of Ubakala Council of Traditional Rulers, on 2nd April, 2024, at Ahiamore Market Square, announced, the creation of three new villages in Laguru Autonomous community, bringing the total number  of villages in Laguru Autonomous community to 13. The new villages are Umungele, Umuoleke and Umubiakwam,  The village heads of  two of the three villages, High Chief Francis Chibuoke Ukairo, the Ngele 1 of Umungele and Chief ikesinachi Ibebulam, the Oleke 1 of Umuoleke were also presented and conferred with village head tittles by HRH.  Umubiakwam village, a village carved out from Umuozuobu, is  yet to  provide its village head.   The Ubakala Improvement Union, Lagos Conference has been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of one of it active members, Mr Christian Ogbonna,  popularly known as 'Army.' Late Mr Ogbonna died on  Sunday 25th February, 2024 from an undisclosed illness. The late Mr. Christian Ogbonna, from Umuogo community was an active member of the various development unions in Lagos.  Until his death he was the president of Mbaiyi Ubakala Welfare Association, as well as vice chairman Okpuama/Azuahia progressive Union, Lagos. The news of his demise was announced by Mr Paul Iroakasi via U.I.U Lagos Conference's platform. Soon after the news of his passing, the platform was filled with condolence messages from several members of Ubakala Improvement Union,  Lagos.  According to Chinedum Austin Anosike, his death is very saddening.   The embattled traditional ruler of Laguru Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Professor C. A Ucheaga has disclosed that he knew from the onset  that Justice Chido Nnamani of Umuahia High Court would not grant his request to stay the execution of the Court's judgement which removed him as the traditional ruler of Laguru Autonomous community,  HRH stated that he lost confidence in the judge's neutrality following the manner  he handled the original trial of the case, Despite knowing that the presiding judge was biassed in the treatment of the case, HRH Eze Ucheaga explained that he had approached the court for the stay of execution of the judgement,  because the rule states that Application for a Stay of Execution of the judgement must be made first from the court which heard the original trial of the case. Talk about  one past  President General of Ubakala improvement Union (F) that has been  honoured with many awards, laurels and recognisions since he left office, the name of Pharm. Chidi Okorie, will readily come to mind.   The Umuogo born pharmacist was elected President General of the union in August 2007 at the age of 37, making him the youngest president general ever in Ubakala. His election was not by manipulation of any kind rather due process was followed and he emerged the winner due to his brilliance and astute leadership qualitiess And for four years, despite all efforts  made to discredit and portray him in a bad light, he distinguished himself very  well by piloting the affairs of the union to a level that every Dick and Harry was proud to be associated with.  Since the end of his tenure in December 2012, he has been enjoying torrents of awards and recognisions.
